Source Galileo joins Dolphyn Hydrogen at Marine Energy Wales annual conference 2023

Swansea, Wales, 24 March 2023: Source Galileo joined the Dolphyn Hydrogen team at the Marine Energy Wales annual conference in Swansea, where Dolphyn Hydrogen was presented to Wales’ First Minister, Mark Drakeford.

Marine Energy Wales (MEW) is a member organisation championing the development and deployment of marine energy in Welsh waters and the Celtic Sea funded by the Welsh Government and other organisations.

Source Galileo and Dolphyn Hydrogen are working together on the development of a portfolio of hydrogen from floating offshore wind projects in the Celtic Sea, in both UK and Irish waters with the Dolphyn Hydrogen technology.

Hydrogen offers an alternative vector to export energy generated from offshore wind projects that is unconstrained by onshore electrical grid connections and infrastructure. This greatly increases the potential deployment of offshore wind and its contribution to the energy transition, particularly for offshore wind projects at further distances from shore using floating technology.

At this year’s MEW annual conference Dolphyn Hydrogen was presented to the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, who also provided a keynote speech at the conference. Dolphyn will undertake offshore hydrogen generation demonstration trials in Wales later this year ahead of commercial scale deployment with Source Galileo in the Celtic Sea in coming years.

Source Galileo would like to thank Marine Energy Wales for hosting an excellent event, and we look forward to continuing our work with the Dolphyn Hydrogen team to bring hydrogen from floating offshore wind to Wales and the Celtic Sea.
